Finally Korean Fried Chicken is trending in Perth, and there are now plenty of offerings to choose from. Which one is better Gami, Vons or is it Nene? I was lucky enough to be invited to sample their menu, and I’d have to say this is my choice.
Nene simply translates to ‘Yes! Yes!’ in Korean, which is how I felt when biting into their Original juicy chicken. It was perfect dipped in the mustard sauce which gave it a slight kick. Apart from that I tasted other flavours such as Bulgogi, Freaking Hot, Swicy and Snowing Vegetable.
Bulgogi is a traditional Korean dish that usually consists of grilled marinated beef, this glaze on the crispy chicken added a sweet meaty flavour.
They warned us that Freaking Hot was so spicy I made sure to take caution while tasting it, and they were correct.
Swicy is a combination of sweet and spicy, this was my least favourite as it was a thick heavy glaze and a bit too sweet for my tastebuds.
Finally there was Snowing Vegetable, which is a strange name for their special sweet and salty seasoning. They also put this seasoning on their Tornado Potato ($3.90), which is a fun snack to get if you’re not up for a large feed.
Speaking of snacks, their Bulchi Chips ($8.95) are like loaded fries, really crispy chips topped with minced Bulgogi beef, sliced kimchi, sour cream and spring onion.
To end our Nene experience we all got soft serves which are priced affordably at $2, you can choose between Black Sesame, Green Tea or a swirl of both.
Overall it was nice meeting other bloggers and pigging out over fried chicken. I definitely want to try their Garlic flavour next, and if you’re with a few friends make sure to head upstairs to have a go at darts.
Thank you again to Nene for the invite and the great service, I look forward to coming back soon!
