This busy café located in the heart of Subiaco is a great setting for breakfast dates, coffee catch-ups or time with your favourite book. After seeing so many photos of their very popular Crumpets with popping candy on Instagram I had to try them myself.
Being both indecisive and greedy, I ordered three dishes to share between the two of us. I don't usually order eggs and toast, because personally I think it's a bit boring and I can make it at home myself. But, my friend insisted we had to get it and I have to agree with him that they are delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked, just how you would want it and the bread used was great for wiping up the runny yolk.
63 degree egg on toast ($10)
Crumpets with macerated strawberries & vanilla mascarpone, pecan butterscotch mixed nuts and popping candy ($16)
The macerated strawberries and butterscotch on top of the fluffy crumpet made this a very sweet dish, a good choice for those with a sweet tooth. It always brings a sense of fun and nostalgia when popping candy is involved.
Coffee butter steak, chimichurri, peri peri chips ($21)
I couldn’t really taste the coffee butter but this dish was delicious, a little pricey for the portion size, but I would still order it again. This is more of a lunch rather than breakfast choice.
I will definitely need to make another trip back here, to extensively try the other dishes on the menu. On the next visit I will have to order the Sparkling Cascara Iced Tea, because it’s served with fairy floss!
